Magic Walnut Ride
I love Negronis and I love Negroni variations. Love them. A low-ABV cocktail is generally a good option as one approaches the holidays to mitigate the inevitable decadent flow of parties, rich foods and boozy fun. This autumnal amaro-forward low-ABV Negroni variation (phew—that’s a mouthful) has been a low-key hit for us since we dropped it a few falls ago:
Magic Walnut Ride
Oloroso sherry and a few dashes of nocino give this amaro-forward Negroni variation its autumn character. Serve it before dinner or settle in with one afterward.
Ingredients
- 1 ounce oloroso sherry
- 1 ounce Italian Vermouth di Torino
- 1 ounce Amaro Lucano
- 4 dashes (0.08 ounce) nocino
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a stirring glass. Add ice and stir until ideal dilution and temperature are achieved. Garnish with a flaming orange twist. This slippery little chameleon functions as both an aperitivo and digestivo (Physics? Math? Magic?); try it around sunset while contemplating which pasta would be best to indulge in or try it deeper into the night after having taken that pasta and placed it into one’s belly.
