Grapes for Glioblastoma

Connection to people and experiences is paramount to how Kim and Andy Busch run their lives and their businesses, like Folded Hills Winery, Ranch and Farmstead in Gaviota. When Andy was diagnosed with glioblastoma—a fast-growing, aggressive form of brain cancer—they formed a nonprofit to help fellow patients and their families. Specifically, the organization helps cover supportive yet essential costs that health insurance does not cover. Says Kim, “These patients need support; they need a loved one with them, if not to help translate the complicated language of neuro-oncology, then simply to hold a hand.” The Busch family is aware—as we all should be—that time is the one thing no one gets back. Now, 10% of Folded Hills wine purchases go toward Grapes for Glioblastoma, including their newly lauded 2024 Roper Reserve Syrah, which scored 93 points and was named Best of Class at this year’s San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. The Homestead Tasting Room holds Golden Hour every Friday through October, with proceeds supporting different nonprofits. While you’re there, check out the nearby Farmstead, where several farrows of Kunekune piglets have recently been born (the joy of seeing happy babies is good for the soul).
