Bagels are perfect for brunch, topped with savory cherry tomatoes and herbs or a sweet layer of whipped cream cheese and stone fruit jam. Both toppings are fresh, simple, and perfect for seasonal gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 bagels, of your choice, toasted
  • Whipped cream cheese, with tobiko roe (optional)

For the Tomato Topping

  • 16 ounces cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil, extra virgin
  • 2 tablespoons basil leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chives, finely chopped
  • Pinch coarse sea salt
  • 5-6 grinds black pepper

For the Sweet Topping

  • 4 bagels, of your choice, toasted
  • Whipped cream cheese
  • Stone fruit preserves, or jam

Instructions

For the Tomato Topping

  • Combine all the topping ingredients in a small bowl. Spoon on top of a cream cheese–covered bagel.

For the Sweet Topping

  • Spread the toasted bagel with cream cheese and top with large spoonfuls of your favorite jam or preserves.
