Ingredients

  • 3 pounds apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • Zest and juice of 1 orange
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey, or agave nectar to make it vegan

Instructions

  1. In a large pot bring the apples, orange juice, orange zest and 1 cup of water to boil. Lower heat and simmer for approximately 30 minutes, or until the apples are very tender. Mash with a potato masher if you like a chunkier consistency or use an immersion blender if you like a smoother purée.
  2. Taste and add 1–2 tablespoons of honey, depending on the sweetness of the apples and how sweet you like it. Let cool and then refrigerate or freeze.
