Situated in the rolling Santa Rita Hills, Rock 12

Situated in the rolling Santa Rita Hills, Rock 12 Distillery is one of the region’s first farm to glass distillery and tasting room. Founded by Sarah and Marko Suput in 2016, Rock 12 Distillery has been a labor of love from the beginning.

Marko comes from a long line of Serbian distillers and the farm’s Copper Pot Still was hand-made by a master craftsman in Serbia and shipped to the states. It’s a small-batch, direct-fired still — the kind Marko’s family has been using in South East Europe for decades.

In 2016, Marko and Sarah purchased a working llama farm on the Sta. Rita Hills Wine Trail, with the goal of planting an orchard, harvesting local fruit and making farm-fresh craft spirits. In the winter of 2023, after years of permits, meetings, inspections and sweat, Rock 12 Distillery is now open in Buellton and making some of the best vodka, gin, liqueurs and brandy on the west coast.

Tucked away in downtown SantaBarbara, this timeless Italian mid-century style restaurant exudes the warmth and charm of a bygone era, where moody lighting casts a soft glow over terrazzo tables, dark wood walls and vintage tiles. The atmosphere is intimate and evocative, as if time slows down the moment you sit, inviting long conversations and lingering meals. Hand-made pasta is made fresh in-house each day, served alongside ancient Italian dishes passed down through generations—rich ragùs, delicate agnolotti, and rustic, slow-simmered sauces that honor tradition. The wine list is unapologetically all-Italian, with bottles sourced from every corner of the country, curated to complement each dish with quiet precision.

As cooler weather brings the holidays closer, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on gratitude, generosity, and how to help those in need across Santa Barbara County.

Santa Barbara County is one of the most productive agricultural regions in California, yet an alarming amount of perfectly edible food never reaches people’s plates. Much of it is left behind in the fields due to weather shifts, crop size, or market fluctuations. Thousands of local residents experience food insecurity every day. Veggie Rescue, @veggierescue is bridging that gap by turning farm surplus into nourishment for the community.

Veggie Rescue was founded in 2006 by Terry Delaney, who recognized that the problem wasn’t a lack of food—it was getting that food to the people who needed it. What began as a personal effort to collect produce from nearby farms and deliver it to local charities has evolved into a countywide network. Today, Veggie Rescue partners with more than 50 local farms and ranches, gathering thousands of pounds of fresh produce each week and delivering it to over 60 nonprofits that feed children, families, seniors, and the unhoused.

Unlike many organizations that rely heavily on government funding, Veggie Rescue focuses on local partnerships to stay flexible and efficient. This grassroots approach allows them to respond quickly to both farmers with surplus and nonprofits with immediate needs. The effort not only diverts food from landfills—reducing methane emissions and waste—but also strengthens the bond between Santa Barbara County’s agricultural abundance and its community well-being.

A collaborative and creative supper club is coming up this Wednesday to celebrate @_djjavier’s solo exhibition at the SB Museum of Contemporary Art. If you love @motherdoughbagels, join them as they host a Kamayan tasting menu where you eat communally off banana leaves, inspired by Filipino dishes using Santa Barbara ingredients.

This is a delicious fundraiser to benefit the @mcasantabarbara, and your ticket price includes:
